As a young girl, probably just having started secondary school, i was often chased around the house by John. 

He would follow me round the house, lighter in hand, flame flickering, giant grin on his face, singing ‘Burn Baby Burn, disco inferno...’. I’d run screaming begging him to stop.

It was only years later that he explained the reason he found it so funny was that i never had the presence of mind to just blow it out. 

Never, ever crossed my mind. I was in the top class. He thought it was hilarious.
