I'm sat organising John's affairs. His laptop is full of images from his beloved Christmas tree. When the Liscard christmas tree was dubbed the worst in Britain by the press John made it his mission to turn it around. He organised people in the Chamber of Commerce and Love Liscard to bring back Christmas to Liscard. This famously involved putting up a Christmas tree in April to promote the campaign.

The end result wasn't just a tree, it was a beautifully decorated shopping centre that brought dignity and respect to the people of Wallasey, many of whom are some of the poorest in the UK. But John went further. He developed the idea of decorating the tree with baubles and dedications from members of the public. The returning families became known as his 'Baubliers'. His laptop contains a photograph of every single bauble hung on the tree each year with its corresponding dedication, most of which he hung himself night after night in the build up to Christmas. Then each year they were collected by their families or John kept them secure to place on the tree the following year.
